Work Hard, But Make Pauses!
Even a few minutes in silence with closed eyes may recharge your batter
Today was a hard day, as usual. After 3 hours of deep work, long conversations, and many actions, I finally felt that I needed to take a rest. I sat on the sofa, set a timer for 3 minutes, and closed my eyes. The only thing I did was breathe. This session charged me 20% in advance. I felt better!
How often do we ignore rest? We love productivity and deep work. But we forget about our eyes, back, neck, and other body parts, especially the brain. We forget that we need to take a rest sometimes to recharge.
It’s good to make deep work sessions for hours. But no pauses will lead to more fails. I have noticed it too many times. I can work 8 hours in a row without any rest and finish 50% of the maximum. And can make 2 sessions for 2 hours each of them and I finish 150% of the maximum. Spending less time in this case will increase my outcome 3 times. My productivity will up 6 times!
That’s why we need to remember about:
- Energy level
- Focus level
- Relaxation level
- Mind level
If any of them goes down then we need to break a line and get at least a few minutes of the rest. In the Pomodoro technique people do 3 work sessions with short delays (5–10) minutes and then take a long rest for 40–60 minutes. It works great and helps to keep a high productivity level.
Please don’t forget to take a rest. First of all, it’s about your health. You need to care about yourself. Then if you feel great and have a good level of energy your productivity will stay high almost all the time!
